A Story Shared and a Community Impacted

At Touchmark, we understand that excellence is a choice that must be made each day—and it is one we choose to make enthusiastically. During morning departmental meetings, team members often share stories called WOW or Value in Action stories of exceptional moments or customer services provided to residents, guests, and fellow team members that go above what is expected to touch someone in a way that is special and surprising. Please enjoy this story from our community in Prescott, Arizona.

Holli Stack, Health Services Director at Touchmark at The Ranch, was visiting with Tess, a resident whose 101 birthday was approaching. When discussing the subject of life goals, Tess responded that she had done everything in life that she wanted to, but she did have a wish to document her life story so that she could share it with family and friends.

Demonstrating the resourcefulness and creativity that Touchmark team members are known for, Holli made a quick call to her brother-in-law, who is a videographer. A camera crew arrived at 6:45 am on the Saturday before Tess's birthday and filmed Tess for about two hours.

Tess was thrilled—she could not believe her wish was coming to fruition. Even better (and unbeknownst to Tess), Holli had contacted various family members and friends of Tess', who shared video recordings of them talking about how Tess has impacted their lives over the years.

Tess said she "cannot understand how we care so deeply about the residents at Touchmark" and that she's gained a tremendous sense of community and support here. In fact, nearly 40 residents came to view the final movie, and by the end there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!
