MICHAELA THOMPSON

Executive Director
Touchmark on South Hill

As Executive Director, Michaela oversees an award-winning full-service retirement community that includes cottages and apartment homes and services that span independent and assisted living, memory care, home health, home care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, and a robust health and fitness program.

Michaela first began working at the community’s front desk in 1999 and held a variety of administrative positions prior to becoming the Director of Resident Services in 2007. In 2011, she moved to Seaside, Oregon, and opened Auntie M’s Coffee House. While Trip Advisor ranked it the No. 1 restaurant 2012 - 2014, she missed Touchmark and Spokane and returned to her previous position in 2014.

While working at Touchmark, Michaela completed a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Gonzaga University. Interestingly, she attended the school at the same time as her two oldest daughters; at one point, they were all in the same math class.

Spending time with family is a high priority for Michaela. Her two oldest daughters live in Vancouver, Washington. Her son and youngest daughter live in Spokane. Away from work, the family spends time outdoors hiking, camping at Spirit Lake, and taking road trips throughout the Pacific Northwest. Naturally, the entire family are Zag fans and spend basketball season watching games together as often as possible.

This photo was taken when my children and I got together to celebrate my daughter Courtney’s 30th birthday. (She’s second from the left in the picture.) We gathered in Leavenworth, Washington, with aunts, uncles, and cousins for three days of “Cheers and Beers to 30 Years” and marked the occasion with hikes, horseback rides, beer gardens, and music.
