We continue to consult the latest guidelines from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, national and state agencies, and other pertinent medical consultative sources to best protect Touchmark residents. As a result, only essential individuals and essential caregivers are allowed into our community.
Essential individuals are defined as Touchmark staff, emergency personnel (police/fire), health care/other medical workers supporting residents, and selective family members with loved ones in end-of-life stages on a case-by-case basis. Specific vendors with proper safety training may enter and provide essential services, but we continue to restrict access to other vendors and nonessential persons.
The State of South Dakota and South Dakota Department of Health (SDDOH) have launched the “Back to Normal” Plan, which includes the designation of Essential Caregivers (ECs) for certain residents. Under the Plan, an EC is defined as an individual, whether family or friend, who previously was actively involved with the Touchmark resident and/or was committed to providing companionship or assisting in the activities of daily living of the resident. Please call us to request the EC application. If approved, you will be screened and trained on the correct process.
