Keeping spirits high

In the midst of this global pandemic, it is normal to feel uncertainty. Studies show that being optimistic leads to people being happier and less prone to depression. By directing our thoughts and activities we can make a choice. Choose positivity and happiness through the following methods:

  • Keep a journal. Begin with five things for which you are most thankful. Focus on using positive words; enjoy, beautiful, believe, happy, calm, upbeat, etc.
  • Change your mindset. Look at and smell the signs of spring instead of focusing on the clouds. Without rain, there would be no flowers.
  • Shift your activities. Color, play a game, or listen to music instead of watching hours of news that causes stress and negative thoughts.
  • Find positive people. Surround yourself with friends and family that lift you up. Laughter is free medicine.
